Teeth, artificial.- Dental impressions taken in plastic material in trays in the usual manner are removed from the trays, replaced on the gums of the patient, and used as bite blocks. The. upper tray a is formed with a mark 5 on its inner surface, opposite the centre of the handle 4 so as to form a corresponding mark 11 on the impression to indicate the centre of the mouth, and both upper and lower trays are formed with holes through which screws 6 are loosely passed to engage screw sockets or bushes 7 within the trays. The flat base of each tray is formed with zig-zag ridges 14 or other roughenings. In use the impressions are taken, the screws 6 are removed leaving the sockets 7 in place in the impressions which are then removed from the trays and connected together by springs 8 having screws 9 engaging the sockets 7. The impressions are then replaced on the gums to serve as bite blocks, a layer of soft modelling material 10 being placed between said blocks so that, when the patient bites, the blocks are impressed into and adhere to the material 10. Alternatively, the material 10 may be dispensed with, the biting surface of one or both of the blocks being softened before the bite is taken. Plaster models are made on the connected blocks and are mounted in the correct relative position indicated by the blocks. A line corresponding to the mark 11 is made on the plaster model to indicate the centre of the mouth.
