Abstract

328,547. Connemann, W. Nov. 23, 1928, [Convention date]. Manures.-A process for preserving meat orfish waste, shrimps, &c. for use as manure or food for animals consists in drying the material by admixture with quicklime calcined gypsum &c., and mechanically separating the hydrated lime from the dry material, such as by screening. The material may be partially dried by heating before or after the addition of lime, and the screened material may be treated with carbon dioxide to convert any unremoved lime to calcium carbonate, for example by passing waste furnace gases through the material.
