Holders for cables and conductors.-A self-releasing suspension clamp for electric cables comprises a cradle - member pivoted to a suspension member, the relative pivotal movement between the members moving a clamp towards, or away from, the cradle member, so that the clamp will release the cable if the line should break. In the embodiment, a cast iron triangular plate 1 is formed with a cradle 2 for carrying the cable. A gap 3 is formed in the cradle channel and an aperture is provided in the plate 1. A boss 6 in the plate 1 is adapted to carry a bolt 7 on which is pivoted a link 8. A link 9, forked at both ends, is pivoted to the link 8 and on a pin 10, and to a clamp 12 by a pin 11. The clamp 12 is channelled to fit over the cable, and is formed with an upstanding lug 14 pivoted to the pin 11. Bolts 15 connect the clamp 12 to an extension 5 of the plate 1. A suspension member 16 is formed with a forked end 17 pivoted to the plate 1, one limb of the forked end being slotted to pass over the pin 10 and to provide lost motion. In operation, a reduction in tension on one side of the clamp due to breakage of the line causes the cradle to move relatively to the suspension member, thus releasing the cable from the clamp. In a modified construction, shown in Figs. 5 and 7, a cradle 22 is formed with curved arms 23 pivoted by links 27, 28 to a clamp 25. Bolts 31 pass through the clamp 25 and the cradle 22. The forked end 33 of a suspension member embraces the cradle 22 and is pivoted to the cradle by bolts 34. Lost motion is provided between the suspension member and the cradle by a peg 35 which engages a slot 36 in a cross-link which connects the intermediate pivot pins of the two sets of links.
