Abstract

350,006. Haulage clips. ROPEWAYS, Ltd. and ROE, E., Aldwych House, Aldwych, London. March 3, 1930, No. 6928. [Class 78t(ii).] In overhead endless conveying means of the kind comprising a traction rope and a lower stationary supporting track along which load carriers provided with overhanging load hangers adapted to support loads centrally below the said track are moved by the traction rope, clip devices connected with the traction rope are provided with depending members arranged normally in a vertical plane passing through the axis' of the rope and flexibly connected to the load carriers by link mechanism connected to the depending member and load carrier in such a manner that variation of distance between the rope and track is permitted. The clip 1, Fig. 3, is pivoted to one end of a flat bar 4, the other end of which is pivoted to an extension 5a of the load carrier 5. The bar may be replaced by a coiled spring or by a round bar provided at its ends with eyes freely mounted on pins carried by the extension 5a. The flexible member may be made in two parts connected by a hinge or swivel joint in order that it may take up the position shown in Fig. 17 when necessary. A single load carrier may be attached by flexible means to a number of clips. The clip may be mounted on a ferrule 29, Fig. 14, provided with projections 29a to engage the strands of the rope 2. The ferrule has a central collar 29b and the clip is slotted at 1b and fitted around the ferrule so that it can turn thereon but cannot move longitudinally. In order that the traction rope may not turn about its axis, vertically adjustable guiding means are fixed to the rope 2 at intervals and provided with a grooved roller 36, Fig. 18, to run on the track 6. The roller is mounted between a pair of vertical members 35, the bolts 34, 34a connecting which pass through a slot 33b in a member 33a depending from a clip 33.
