Suffident endwise pressure to keep the plug on its seat is exerted by means of a spring f carried in an annular cavity in the collar c and bearing against autifriction washers g on the.plug b. In a modification, the spring f is replaced by bolts securing the collar c to the casing a, a compressible washer being provided between the collar and the end face of the, plug.
