Abstract

327,467. Round, H. J. Jan. 10, 1929. Receiving-sets, construction of.--Ir. a portable receiver of the kind having a frame aerial movably mounted with respect to the case so that when the receiver is in use the aerial is withdrawn, being enclosed in the case when the receiver is not in use, withdrawal of the aerial operates a switch or switches which render the set operative. The aerial former 1 slides vertically in a com. partment 2 and is so mounted that, when withdrawn, it may be rotated for directive reception. When the receiver is for use on several different wavebands, a plurality of aerials 1, 1<1> Fig. 3. may be employed, one for each range. Withdrawal of the aerial operates filament and anode battery switches and connects the aerial in circuit; also the switching device may connect up the tuning circuits corresponding to the aerial in use. A loud-speaker may be mounted inside the aerial coil former.
