Watch stands. - A watch case comprises a cover 2 hinged to, and closing on, a case element 1 carrying the movement case 14 etc., the two parts being unlocked by a relative sliding movement. The elements of the spring hinge 3 connected to the cover 2 are integral with a small plate 4 attached to a plate 5 by a screw 6. This plate 4 has lateral guides 7 moving between inturned edges 8 of the cover 2, and the plate 5 has upturned ends 5<1> which engage under the edges 8 with slight friction. Projection 16 on the element 1 coact with openings 17 formed by projections of the edges 8 so that, when the case is closed, relative sliding movement of 1 and 2, by pressure on the thumb rib 19, brings 16 and 17 into register and the spring binge opens the case. The part 1 may be slid to the dotted line position of Fig. 4, so that cover 2 forms a base for maintaining the dial erect.
