Abstract

326,416. Rodolausse, E. May 28, 1929. Track apparatus for stopping trains and actuating signals on trains; miniature signals or indicators.-A train carries three track-contact operated air compressors, one controlling the brakes, another controlling warning and slowing down apparatus, and a third controlling an allclear audible signal. Compressor 1, which is operated by the track contact 24, is connected by a tube 12 to a pump 13 which operates a spring catch 15 holding a valve 14 of the brake tube. Alter a brake application the valve is closed by a handle 16<b>. Compressor 2, which is operated by a contact 25, is connected by a tube 17 to a pump 18, the movements of the piston being used to control apparatus of known construction for slowing down the train and warning the driver. Compressor 3, which is operated by contact 26, is connected bv a tube 20 to a pump 21 which operates an all-clear signal such as a steam whistle 22. The track-contacts 25, 26 are geared together so that when one is raised the other is lowered. Each track contact is formed of a U-shaped arm of sheet metal, one end of which makes the circuit of an electric bell in the signal cabin to show that the track contact is undamaged. The contacts are connected through dash pot devices to the permanent way signals.
