Abstract

Miniature signals or indicators and the like; track apparatus actuating signals other than on trains.-Apparatus for giving distinctive audible " line clear " and " danger " signals in conjunction with the usual semaphore signal comprises two switch arms 8, 13 operated by the rod 4 which controls the semaphore arm and preparing one or other of two circuits completed by passage. of a train over treadle switches 10, 18. With rod 4 raised to " clear " position arm 8 engages a fixed contact 7 in circuit with a bell 9, treadle 10, and battery 11. With rod 4 lowered to " danger " position arm 13 engages a fixed con. tact 16 connecting battery 11 through a "danger" audible signal 12 to a switch arm 17 normally held raised by a catch 21. Passage of a train over treadle 18 energizes an electromagnet 20 which releases the catch and allows arm 17 to fall and engage a fixed contact 19, closing the audible signal circuit. The circuit remains closed until the signal is returned to " clear " position, when a projection 22 on rod 4 raises arm 17 into engagement with catch 21. The visual indicating device comprises a pointer 27 forming a pivoted armature common to two opposed electromagnets 25, selectively energized with one or other of the signals 9, 12 and throwing the pointer to right or left. The right and left halves of the front panel of the indicator may be differently coloured. The indicator may be placed near the track and may carry the devices 9; 12 as shown, or may be placed in the cabin.
