Carding-engines.-The meeting edges of the undercasing segments of a carding-engine, have interlocking members, comprising wires encased by sheet metal strips extending across the card between the flanges of the segments, forming a flush hinge structure. One segment a', Fig. 3, carries the wires 1, 3 surrounded by a sheet metal strip 5 soldered or brazed to a similar structure 6 forming a socket which receives the wire 7 of a third such structure 9 fixed on the other segment. Tn an alternative form the structure 6 is substituted by a single wire, of larger diameter than the wires 1, 3, which may be covered with sheet metal, and is brazed in an off-set position below the wire 1 to form a socket which is engaged by the wire 7 of the structure 9. The undercasing segments may be adjusted by brackets e, Fig. 5, the lower part d of which is bolted on the inner part of the, card frame, and the upper part of which carries a stud pin g engaging a curved slot in the segment flange.
