Abstract
326,145. Whittaker Bros. (Accrington), Ltd., and Duckworth, J .A. Dec. 4, 1928. Driving-gear for mangles and wringers. - The hand-wheel of a mangle or wringer is loosely mounted on a stud on the machine frame and is connected to the lower roller shaft by a combination of chain and spur gearing. In Fig. 2, the hand-wheel, not shown, is loose on a stud a and carries an integral pinion a<1> which meshes with another pinion C loose on a stud c. The pinion C engages a spur-wheel D loose on a pin d which is adjustably secured in an arcuate slot d', and the spur-wheel D is formed with an integral sprocket wheel E. A chain connects the sprocket-wheel E to a sprocketwheel E<1> on the shaft F of the bottom roller. The pin d is provided with a cam e which bears against an abutment e' for adjusting the tension and preventing slackening of the chain. In Fig. 4, the stud a on which the hand-wheel is loosely mounted is adjustably secured in a cam slot b<1> in a boss a<2> on the machine frame. The handwheel is formed integrally with a sprocket-wheel G which is connected by a chain to a sprocketwheel G' loose on a stud h and formed with an integral pinion H which, through an intermediate wheel J, drives the gear-wheel K fast on the bottom roller shaft F.
