Abstract

325,835. Southern, H. Nov. 29, 1928. Ambulances.-In ambulances of the type wherein two sets of stretcher supports are provided each set providing for an upper and lower position and being arranged at the side of the vehicle, the upper stretcher support of each set is raised and lowered by hydraulically actuated lever mechanism without the aid of toothed gearing so that sufficient space is afforded between the two sets of carriers to form a passage for the attendant. As shown the upper supports 15 are carried by the arms 8 mounted on spindles 9 to which are secured sets of levers 10 connected by a link 11. One set of the levers 10 has an arm 12 pivoted to an hydraulic ram operated by a jack lever 14. The longitudinals 15 of the upper support are adapted to be swung into a vertical position against the side of the ambulance when it is desired to use the lower supports as seats for sitting patients.
