1330889 Adjustable Hospital Beds J NESBIT-EVANS & CO Ltd 14 Oct 1971 [24 Nov 1970] 55709/70 Heading A4J [Also in division B8] A hospital bed is provided with a mechanical jack 13 (see division B8) which includes a pair of canting plates (46, 56) Figs. 2 and 3, (not shown), which act on the ram (28) of the jack 13 to lift the ram in one direction and brake the ram against descent in the opposite direction for effecting raising of a mattress support frame 12 relative to a chassis 10, the braking plate (56) being disengageable such that lowering of the support frame is controlled by a hydraulic strut 82. The mattress support frame 12 is supported by an X- frame, the limbs 16 and 18 of which are interconnected by a sliding pivot.
