Abstract

Wearing - apparel, appliances for use with.-A device for testing the faults in stockings comprises a former, shaped like a fingerless glove and on to which the stocking is pulled. The former is expansible and may be illuminated. The appliance, as shown in Fig. 1, is provided with a handle 4 and has a pivoted part 1<a> capable of being moved away from the main part 1 by compressing a spring. The device is made of glass, porcelain, or like translucent material inside which electric bulbs 3 are placed. The part 1<a> stretches the stocking when the gripping lever 7 is pressed. The tester shown in Fig. 2 is in the form of an arm consisting of two half shells 2<b> and 2<c>, one being attached to a base 4b and the other to it connected by expandable toggle joints 14 and 15 which are operated by the lever 20 through the pull cord 18. The guide stops 11 prevent the two shells from nipping the stocking.
