Photometric apparatus; colours, comparing. - For the examination of dyed materials by artificial light and by daylight a viewing casing 1 is provided associated with a lighting casing 2 enclosing the artificial light source, the two casings being hinged to a baseboard 3 on which the material 11 is placed. The viewing casing 1 is divided by a partition 5 and is fitted with an eyepiece so that when turned into position over a specimen of the material 11, the part of the material illuminated by daylight may be directly compared with that part of the material situated under the lighting casing 2 and illuminated by artificial light. The lighting casing 2 may be fitted with a colour filter and a rheostat for varying the colour and intensity of the illumination. In a modification the apparatus is provided with two sources of artificial illumination by duplicating the lighting casing 2 and the effect of different lighting compared. Daylight lamps in conjunction with filters may also be used,. A daylight lamp 13 is provided as shown for use when natural daylight is not available.
