Abstract

324,451. Awbrey, S. C. Nov. 16, 1928. Facing walls.-A brick, terra cotta, or stone facing is secured to a concrete wall by means of sheet metal anchors engaging vertical channel members embedded flush in the wall, the edges of the inner ends of the anchors conforming to the cross section of the channels to prevent movement inwardly, outwardly, and laterally. In Figs. 2 and 3, the channels 14 have converging corrugated sides, the end 16 of the anchor 17 is similarly shaped, and the outer end is formed with projections 18 and a gap 19 to key in the brick joints. To secure stone facing, the outer end of the anchor is turned down to fit in a recess in the stone. The modified anchor 20, Fig. 4, for terra cotta facing, is provided with bent rods 23 which engage recesses in the facing. A yoke 44 prevents the anchor from turning. Fig. 8 shows a further modified channel 29 having a non-symmetrical cross section, the anchor 31 being similarly shaped. In another form, Fig. 9, the channel has flanges 35 to key with the concrete, converging inner sides 37, parallel portions 38, and flared edges 36, and the anchor 39 has the engaging edges 43 folded over to stiffen them.
