Abstract

Stands or supports for vehicles. - A fluid-pressure jack comprises two hollow telescopic plungers normally spring- retained in a cylinder, the liquid being admitted to and out off from the inner plunger by a valve held open by the, outer plunger when closed, so that the full outward movement of the inner plunger is assured before the outer plunger moves and allows the valve to close. A cylinder 1 carried by the vehicle contains two hollow plungers 6, 13 the outer of which is held raised by a compression spring 7. When fluid under pressure enters at 3 it acts on the inner piston 22 which is forced down against the action of a tension spring 20. At the end of the travel the fluid acts on a piston 9, 10 and the plunger 6 is depressed to raise the vehicle. A valve 28, 29 which admits fluid to the piston 22 is normally held open by the contact of the cover 2 with the stem 29 as shown. When the piston 9, 10 begins to descend the valves closes and the full pressure of the liquid acts on this piston. The foot 16 is secured to the inner plunger 13.
