322,588. Tangyes, Ltd., and Chapman, H. W. Oct. 15, 1928. Jacks. - A multiple-extension fluid-pressure jack is provided with resilient means which check the outward movement of the inner ram when near its fullv extended position until the outer ram has reached its maximum extension, the pressure fluid then completing the extension of the inner ram and so exposing a relief passage for excess fluid. The inner ram 4 is fitted at its lower end with a transverse rod 7 arranged in a slot 8 and pressed upwards by a spring 11. When the ram is raised so that the rod contacts with the cap 3<b> of the outer ram 3, the outer ram is raised and when it has reached its full extension continued pumping causes the compression of the spring and further raising of the inner ram, so exposing a relief passage 6. In a modification a spring encircles the lower end of the inner ram.
