Abstract

324,062. Biolcati, O. July 17, 1928. Saxophones.-For playing the high notes D to F a saxophone is provided with a set of finger plates 1 - - 4 placed near the usual plates for the low notes D to F so that they can be operated by the fingers of the right hand. The plate 1 is carried by a spindle 12 provided at its upper end with a lever 13 acting through a lever 14 upon a lever 15 which is fixed to a shaft 16 carrying a tappet 17 adapted to lift the valve plate 19. The valve 29 is operated by the plate 2 through levers 28, 30, 31, 32 and rods 33, 34. The plate 3 actuates the valve 9 for top E through a spindle 5 and tappet lever 11, while the valve 35 is operated by the plate 4 through a. spindle 39, arm 40 and lever 36. The usual keys d, d<1>, f for opening the valves 19, 29, 35 may be retained as an alternative method of playing the high notes D, D# and F. The finger plate 1 is provided with an extension a which lies under the plates 2, 3, 4 so that it is depressed when any of these three plates is depressed.
