Abstract
323,955. Marks, Sir G. C., (Emsco Derrick & Equipment Co.). Feb. 25, 1929. Driving and like chains with separate joint pins.-The links of driving &c. chains are secured to the pivot pins by means of rivets passing through the pins, the ends of the rivets being deformed to press against the sides of the links and hold them in place. The pivot pin 26 is formed with a head 28 pressing against the links on one side of the chain and at the other end of the pin is a bore through which is passed the rivet 36. One end of the rivet is formed with a head 35 and the other is deformed as shown at 41. The end of the pin is formed with a groove 33 parallel to the axis of the pin into which the end of the rivet is forced on deformation and which guides it while being deformed so that it presses against the side of the link 14 and prevents relative rotation between the link and the pin.
