Abstract
705,238. Belt fastenings. PERFECTA MANUFACTURING CO. (BLACKHEATH), Ltd., and CARLTON ENGINEERING CO. (SMITHIES), Ltd. June 28, 1952, No. 16347/52. Class 80 (1) A hinged fastening for conveyer belts and the like comprises two pairs of sheet-metal jaws 10, each pair having staggered spikes 16, 17 which are hammered into the belt, two hinge knuckles 12, 13 which receive a pin 14, and opposed lugs 18 which locate the belt end and abut each other to determine the degree, of closure of the jaws. The ends of the spikes 16 are clamped over after passing through the belt. Where four fastenings are arranged side by side across a belt each outer hinge pin has an enlarged head, Fig. 3 (not shown), at its inner end and the two intermediate pins abut these heads and each other so that all four pins are held from movement. The headed pins of the outer fastenings are inserted by bending the belt after the insertion of the intermediate pins. To standardize manufacture, preferably all hinge pins are headed at one end.
