Abstract

323,778. Ewart, R. D. Oct. 10, 1928. Addition to 319,376. Stream-cutting machines; extrusion machines. -Comprises improvements in the container and in the cutter construction. The open-ended container 23, Fig. 4, is formed of synthetic resin, casein &c. and is located within the machine by positioning-lugs 30 which are adapted to receive the container and are furnished with pivoted fingers 31 having spring clips 32 adapted to engage over toothed shoulders 34 to retain the container during withdrawal of the tray. Finger pieces 32<a> enable the clips to be sprung apart for withdrawal of the containers. The cutter frame 62, Figs. 3, 6 and 9, is slidably supported on flanges 22<b> of the frame 22 and is built up of angle iron members secured by inturned flanges 62<a> secured by bent-up tongues 72 clinched over. Cutting-wires, or thin blades, 61 are secured to short pins and are supported between slotted #-shaped spring clips 70. The frame is provided with a staple 75 adapted to receive a hook member 76 on the cutter operating lever 63 which hook is pressed down by a spring 78 and is disengageable by pushing up a member 76<a> for removal of the frame 62. An adjustable stop 79 eccentrically mounted on a stud 80 limits the movement of the lever.
