The present application is a division of my application Serial No. 102,101, filed April 15, 1926, for novelty combination tool. In said application the claims are drawn to 5 the construction of the cutting tool and its cooperation with the openings in the handle portion. These features are shown and described herein but not claimed.

This invention relatesto a pocket tool lurality of implements mounted on a single handle, and has for one of its objects the provision of such a tool which shall efficiently perform the various. functions for which it is designed and inwhich the various implements will be e-.

Other objects of the invention will appear from the following description.

plate 16 has spaced projections 21 struck inwardly to engage spaced openings in a. thin blade 22 such as is used for safe-ty razors. In placing the blade in position over the lugs 21, the plate 15, is swung vout of registration with the'plate 16 exposing the inner face of the plate 16. The blade 22 is then placed in position and the plate 15 rotated to engage the llange 18 so as to cover the blade 22 and hold it in place. The plate 16 is provided with an overhanging flange 23 which 'engages the outer end of the plate 15 to hold it tightly againstthe face of the blade 22. The plate 15 is provided with outwardly struck portions 24 providing arcuate grooves on ythe inner .face of the plate. This provides clearance for thelugs with the flange 18. The

The plate 16 may be provided with a pointed projection 28 which can be used as a nail cleaner or for any other purpose which such a pointed projection will serve.

A notch 29 is formed in the ends of the handle plates and the edges of the notch are beveled to `form cutting edges. This notch is convenient for severing 4cords or strings, such as are used in tying packages.

At the opposite side of the handle plates from the notch 29 there is provided a spur 30 which co-operates with a fulcrum 31 to form a bottle cap remover.

11 and 12 are formed outwardly at 32 to provide a recess in which a corkscrew 33 is pivoted on a pivot pin 34. The opposite end of the cork-screw is received between ears 35 formed on the edges of the

11 and 12. These ears are curved to conform to the radius of the corkscrew and the upper ends of the ears project beyond the center line of the cork-screw so that they are bent inwardly a suicient amount to retain the cork-screw in folded position against the edge of the handle plates. The cork-screw when closed in this position forms, together with the ears 35, what is in effect a circular bead or enlargement along the edge of the handle members so that a better grip can be secured on the handle for operating the blade 22 as a knife. The ears 35 and supporting portions of the

11 and 12 are sufficiently resilient to hold the cork-screw in folded position, thus guarding the pointed end of the cork-screw and preventlng the screw from opening in the pocket. If suiiicient force is exerted the corkscrew may be opened to a position at right angles to the handle member so that it may be used for removing bottle Stoppers. When the cork-screw 'is again closed the arcuate shape of the screw will produce a wedging action between the ears 35 which springs them apart sufficiently to permit the screw to snap into place between the earsf It will be seen from the drawing and description that the arrangement provides a tool in which the various implements are conveniently and effectively placed so that the parts fold into compact relation, making the device neatvin appearance and conven ient to carry in the pocket. The device` embodies in one tool, implements for performing a large number of recurring operat-ions so that the tool is exceedingly convenient and useful.

In the modified form of the invention shown in Figs. 7 and 8, the retainer plate 36 for t-he blade 22 instead ofbeing hinged on the pivotV 14, is entirely removable and slides beneath the flange 23 and a co-operating flange 37 struck up from the plate 16. The plate 36 is formed outwardly in straight parallel raised portions 38 leaving grooves on the under side of the plate for blade holding lugs. i

I claim 1. A tool comprising a pair of handle plates disposed face to face, a cork-screw.

pivotally mounted between said handle plates, said plates having outwardly curved ears forming a recess in position to receive a portion of the free end of said cork-screw when said cork-screw is folded against the edge of said plates, the extremities of said ears being curved inwardly and extending beyond the yaxial line of said cork-screw when said corkscrew is disposed in said recess so that the ends of said ears will spring inwardly past the portion of said cork-screw having maximum .width toy retain said corkscrew; in said recess and to form a guard for the pointed end there-of.

2. A tool comprising a pair of handle plates secured together face to face, said handle plates having portions thereof spaced apart at one edge of said plates and intermediate the ends of said plates, a cork-screw pivotally mounted in the recess between the spaced portions of said plates, the edges of said plates having an elongated notch thereu in at one side of said recess so that a portion of said cork-screw will be exposed when folded against the edges of said plates, the portions of said plates at the end of said notch opposite said recess being curved to form an arcuate recess, the sides of which extend outwardly from the edges of said plates a distance somewhat greater than the radius of said'cork-screw while the extremities of said portions are curved inwardly leaving a space between the extremities somewhat less than the maximum diameter of said corkscrew so that when said cork-screw is closed against said extremities the sides of said recess will be sprung outwardly to permit said cork-screw to enter said recess and will be snapped together by the resilienc of said plates to retain said cork-screw in olded po sition with the end of said corkscrew disposed in said recess.4
