Abstract

323,763. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Watson, G. O. Sept. 7, 1928. Divided application. Heating machines whilst inoperative. - In a ship propulsion system in which switches are provided to enable the fields to be heated by current from a suitable source when in port, interlocking means ensure that the motor cannot be connected to the source of power with the switches in heating position. The field switches are housed in a cubicle and carry members 40 which are adapted to foul projections 41 on the cubicle doors if an attempt is made to close them when the switches are in the downward or field heating position. Key operated locking mechanism is provided on the door and on the switchgear controlling the motor power circuits and both mechanisms are capable of operation only by a single key which cannot be removed from either until it is in the locked condition.
