Abstract

323,636. Bennett, G. A. Dec. 29, 1928. Stopping-arrangements.-Web or sheet feeding- means for printing or other machines are associated with a device for stopping the machine or the feeding-means if the web becomes creased or more than one sheet is fed, the device comprising an abutment controlled by the web or sheets and normally restraining a member which on being released opens the circuit of the driving-motor or, alternatively, closes the circuit of a brake or other stopping means. In the device shown in the Figure, an arm 2 adjustably secured to a support 4 carries pivotally a curved abutment 6 formed with a hook 9 normally latching a pivoted spring-urged arm 10 provided with a strap 16 bridging spring-contacts 17 which are mounted on the abutment and are connected by leads 23 to the motor circuit of the machine. The arm 2 is provided with plates 18 shielding the arm 10. terminals 21 for the leads passing through one of the plates and being covered by a plate 22 of insulating-material. The abutment is arranged over the paper 1 and is rocked when a crease or more than one sheet passes, the arm 10 being released and the contacts opaned.
