Abstract

323,152. Moseley, H. G. Feb. 20, 1929. Presses.-In a press of the type in which pressure is applied to the top member by means of a clamping lever or cam device, means are provided for preventing lateral displacement of the top board. The extensible springs 3 are connected to a pressure bar 4 at one end the other end being provided with ratchet teeth 5. A rightangle bracket 7 attached to the edge of the board 2 carries a shackle 9, which is pivoted at 10 and is attached to a clamping lever 11. The end 11a of the lever grips the teeth 5 and the end of the pressure bar 4 engages the upstanding portion of the bracket 7, thus preventing any displacement of the top board. In a modification, the clamping lever 11 may be replaced by a cam device.
