Breech actions, movablebarrel other than dropdown; firing-appliances.- The sear b of a slauglitering pistol extends rearwardly from the trigger c, and these two parts are mounted on two pivots d', d<2>. The sear may be pivoted to the trigger at d<2>, and the trigger to the body of the pistol at d<1>; or, as shown, the sear and the trigger are in one and pivoted at d<2> to a link d, pivoted at d<1> to the body of the pistol. The rear end of the sear has an upward projection e, which engages a shoulder f on the spring striker a and thus cocks this striker when the trigger is pulled, and a cam i, which engages a fixed stop j when the sear reaches its extreme backward position, whereby the projection e is depressed and releases the cocked spring striker. The sear and trigger are returned to the forward position by a spring plunger h, and on reaching the forward position, the projection e rocks a lever k, which engages a shoulder m on the spring striker and draws it back slightly to prevent the point of the striker from projecting beyond the face of the frame in which it is mounted.
