Abstract
322,338. Woolf, S. B. Nov. 30, 1928. Collision-guards. - A resilient cushioning member 1, which may be applied, for example, to the support of bumper bars on motor vehicles, is mounted at its ends between abutments 2, 3, each provided with a guide, the two guides telescoping one into the other and being located axially within the cushioning member so as to maintain the abutments in alignment. The guiding members may be of the cylinder and piston type illustrated or of the plunger type and each guide may be formed with threaded extensionp for attachment to the parts between which the cushioning member .is arranged. The end plates 5b, 12<a> may have extensions moulded into the rubber, and the end abutments may be formed with flared extensions partly surrounding the rubber cushion 1 and permitting radial extensions only within certain limits.
