Abstract
334,138. Conti, E. Nov. 28, 1928, [Convention date]. Collision-guards. - In a vehicle bumper or like shock-absorbing device of the kind in which the bumper-bar 1 is mounted upon the forward ends of a pair of pivoted two-armed levers 2, the other arms of which are associated with shock-absorbing springs, the rear ends of the levers are connected, preferably by cables 3 passing around pulleys 5, 6, with the rear springs 8 of the vehicle, the arrangement being such that the energy of a shock is transmitted to the springs 8 and therehy to the whole vehicle, producing a rapid damping effect. For the purpose of absorbing smaller shocks, light springs may be interposed in the connection between the levers 2 and springs 8. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the connection between the levers and springs may be pneumatic or hydraulic. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
