Abstract

322,103. Moodie, A. A. Dec. 1, 1928. Locks, cases for.-To prevent operation of a night latch &c. from outside by gaining access to the inside knob through a broken door-panel &c. a cover or casing is provided to enclose the knob, the cover being removable only when the door is open. A frame a secured by screws b or integral with the lock casing d provides channels g into which flanges h on a cover may be slid from the edge c of the door. An upstanding abutment plate e, integral with frame a or separately secured by screws, closes the inner end of the cover when the latter is in place. The other end k of the cover is cut away as shown to allow passage of the latch bolt m into the staple &c. q. When the door is closed, removal of the cover is prevented by the flange p of the staple abutting against the end k of the cover. In a modification the frame a and flanges h are interrupted to provide tongues which allow application of the cover by a limited sliding movement. In another form, the flanges h have keyhole slots engaging headed screws or projections on the door.
