Abstract

141,695. Bock, A. C. O. Feb. 26, 1915, [Convention date]. Locks, cases for; striking-plates and staples.-The lock casing and keeper of a spring-controlled latch bolt 5, attached to the inner side of a swinging door, are constructed to interengage so as to prevent forcing of the bolt or lateral dislocation of the lock or keeper. The bolt 5 may be operated from the outside by a key inserted in the tumbler-barrel 12 or from the inside by the knob 13 and enters the staple portion 16 of the keeper 4, a detent 17 being provided to hold the bolt in the retracted position, if desired. The lock casing 1 extends over the door edge 9 and is provided with a flange 10 fitting into a recess 11 in the edge of the door. The keeper 4, shown in end elevation in Fig. 4, is provided with an angle-plate, the leg 19 of which engages the inner side of the door frame, the leg 20 fitting in a recess 21 in the edge 22 of the frame. The end of the back face of the lock casing 1, shown in Fig. 6, has a flange 25, formed by a groove 26 and provided at each end with shoulders 28, so that on the door being closed, the flange 25 enters the slot 29 in the leg 19, the shoulders 28 engaging the face of said leg. The leg 20 of the keeper has a portion 31 which, on closing the door, enters the groove 26 in the casing and lugs 30 at either end which engage recesses 27 formed at each end of the groove 26.
