Abstract

Road-traffic signals on vehicles. - A direction indicator of the rotating drum type has a casing a within which is rotatably mounted a shutter e bearing indications which can be brought selectively into position in relation to a window d. The shutter is moved against the action of a scroll spring g by a Bowden cable j which is actuated by a pivoted lever t which can be moved into one of a number of positions in the gate change slot u in the housing s. In the vicinity of the slot are provided electric contacts which by making selective contact with the shutter operating lever t serve to switch on an electric light for illuminating the indicator when indicating " right " or " left." A switch v is provided for illuminating the indicator at the front when it exhibits the word " ahead," and a switch w is actuated by the foot brake for illuminating the indicator when showing the word " stop." The Provisional Specification describes an arrangement whereby the pivoted lever is slidably mounted on a spindle so that it can be moved against the action of a spring encircling the spindle into one of a number of notches in a plate.
