Abstract
262,544. Williamson, H. R. April 10, 1926. Road-traffic signals on vehicles.-A direction indicator for use on road vehicles comprises a casing 1 having glass or translucent sides 3, bearing the design of a hand and containing an electric lamp 2. The casing is supported by a tubular bracket 4 pivoted in a casing 6. An operating arm 8 for the arm 4 has a spring catch working in a slot 10 having locking notches 13 at the ends. A spring 14 is provided to assist in raising the indicator into operative position. The leads for the lamp 2 are brought through the arm 4 to contacts arranged in the casing 6 so that the lamp is lighted only when the arm is raised. The indicator may be formed of transparent or translucent material shaped in the form of a hand. There may be two indicators, one on each side of the car.
