Abstract
321,163. Metallbank und Metallurgische Ges. Akt.-Ges., and Forster, H. von- July 30, 1928. Stays.-The end 2 of a stay bolt 1 is. formed with screw threads or like projections engaging loosely with corresponding projections in a hole in a boiler plate 3 and is secured by welding or soldering material 4 in the space between the projections. A part of the screw threaded end of a bolt may engage tightly with the screw threads in the hole. A head 6, Fig. 2, may be formed on the bolt to protect the welding material from the action of the furnace gases. The solder or welding material may be inserted in the form of a thin tube between the projections and melted by passing an electric current through a heater inserted in a cavity 8, Fig. 3, in the bolt. The solder may be run in through one or more grooves 12, Fig. 7, in the bolt or through holes in the boiler plate.
