Seed drills; planting-machines.-Planting or sowing machines are provided with means for applying mulching materials at the same time as the seeds or seedlings. Guards may be fitted on the machine to prevent the mulch covering the ground immediately around each plant. The mulch is produced in situ by application of fibrous and waterproofing materials. The ingredients of the mulch may be in sheet, comminuted solid, liquid, semi-liquid, or like form and may include weed killers, insecticides, fungicides, &c.
