Abstract

319,452. Bamford, T. Aug. 2, 1928. Splashing apparatus. - A lawn sprinkler for attachment to garden hose &c. comprises a saucershaped deflecting plate 10, Fig. 1, which may be plain or fluted, carried by a support 8, 9. which may be detachably connected with the nozzle, and carrying a pin 11 independent of the support projecting into the path of the liquid, which may also serve to centre the plate 10. The support 8 may be permanently or adjustably attached to a clip 1 for engaging the nozzle which may be either a spring clip or provided with a clamping screw 6. Fig. 5 shows a form in which the plate 10 is adjustably screwed on one limb 16 of a U-shaped support the other limb 8 of which is screwed and passes through an eye 13 on the clip 1 its position being adjusted by a nut 18. The plate 10 may be held by a screw 30, Fig. 12, in the closed end of a tube 32 which is cut away at 34, 35 and has at its lower end a bayonet slot 33 .for engaging pins on the nozzle. Jet nozzles.-The apparatus may be combined with a. border spray 20, Figs. 6 and 8, comprising a tube 20 closed at its upper end by an angularly disposed plate 21 and having an inclined discharge slit 23. A bayonet joint 24 secures this to the nozzle 2. Shields.-A guard member 28, Fig. 11, in the form ot an open box may be hinged at 29 to the upright 8 to protect the sprayer when it is laid on the ground.
