SPRAYING DEVICE.
Application filed October 29, 1928. Serial No. 315,730.
This invention relates to a spray for spraying gardens, orchards and the like, the general object of the invention being to provide a mast carrying a boom which is placed on the vehicle carrying the tank and pump, the hose from the tank passing over a pulley on the boom to the nozzles which are arranged on a bar which is provided with` shoulder straps so that the bar can be attached to the persons operating the nozzles.
Another object of the invention is to provide a cable for adjusting the boom from the vehicle.
This invention also consists in certain other' features of construction and in the com-p bination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
Tn describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding` parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a view showing the invention in use.
Figure 2 is a section on line 2f2 of Figure 1.
Referring to Figure 1, the character A indicates a vehicle which carries the tank 1 for the spray solution and the pump for forcing the solution therefrom. A sectional mast B is arranged in the rear part of the vehicle, the upper section 2 telescoping into the lower section 3 and said section 2 is held in adjusted position by the set screw 4. A boom 5' is rotatably connected with the section 3 by means of the collar 6 and a cable 7 is connected with the outer end of the boom and passes over a pulley 8 on the upper end of the section 2 an-d passes to a point on the vehicle where it can be manipulated to raise and lower the boom. The outer end of the boom carries a pulley 9 over which passes the hose 10 from the tank 1. This hose is connected to the outer end of a nozzle carrying member 11, the inner end of which is connected by a hose 12 to a second nozzle carrying member 13. These nozzle members are rotatably mounted on a bar 14 to which is attached a pair of shoulder straps 15 so that the bar and the nozzle members can be carried by two men. Each nozzle member is provided with a handle 16 whereby it can be turned to direct the streams from the nozzles in different directions.
From the foregoing it will be seen th at most of the weight of the hose is carried by the mast and its boom so that the men simplyy the hose and this ad'ustment of the mast aermits the entire device to be adjusted so that it can pass under trees and the like.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and .novel features of the .invention will be readily apparent.
it is to be understood 'that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement ofthe several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What l claim is l. In combination with a vehicle and a spray outfit carried thereby, a mast arranged in the vehicle, a boom on the mast, a cable connected with the boom for adjusting the same, the hose of the outfit passing over the boom, a bar having shoulder straps ythereon whereby the bar can be carried'by persons, a pair of nozzle members rotatably arranged on the bar, a. handle on each nozzle member, means for connecting the nozzle'members together and means for connecting one of the members to the hose.

In combination with a vehicle and a hose outfit carried thereby, a mast earriedby the vehicle and formed of upper and lower seetions adjustably connected together, a boom rotatably connected with the lowersection, a pulley at the outer end of the boom, a pulley at the upper end of the mast. a cable passing over said pulley and connected with the outer end of the boom, the hose of the outfit passing along the boom and over the pulleythereon, a bar, a pair of nozzle carrying members rotatably arranged thereon, the hose being connected with one of said members, a hose `connecting the two members together, a handle connected with each member and shoulder straps on the bar.
