Abstract

319,147. Brandt, R. Oct. 4, 1928. Materials for purifying.- Potassium ferrocyanide foimed in gas purifying liquor when the oxidation of hydrogen sulphide is effected by potassium ferricyanide is electrolytically reconverted to potassium ferricyanide. In a cyclic process, the spent liquor is first passed through large settling vessels to separate the coarse sulphur, and then enters the lower end 7 of an electrolytic cell where the potassium ferrocyanide is oxidized to potassium ferricyanide, the colloidal sulphur present having no effect on the reaction. The regenerated liquor passes out of the cell at the top end 8.
