Abstract
318,673. McKim, A. June 9, 1928. Delivery of articles stored in piles; storage. - The articles 4, Fig. 1, are stored in magazines 5 rotatable about an axle 7 so that the magazine containing the kind of article required may be selected, the magazines having glass fronts 5b to allow the articles to be seen. The bottom article of the selected magazine is pushed off guides 5 by an ejector block 9 carried bv a slide 16 the front end 17 of which is up-turned to prevent access to the articles in the magaizne. The slide 16 has a slipper 18 guided on a plate 3a and is normally looked by a pivoted catch 26 engaging a projection 18b on the slipper, After the insertion of a coin, a handle 21 attached to rods 20, Fig. 2. is pulled out and compresses springs 24 which surround the rods and abut against stops 23 thereon and lugs 18a on the slipper. Near the end of the movement of the rods 20, the catch 26 is released and the springs 24 cause the ejector 9 to push out a packet. The ejector 9 is carried by rods 40 fixed in a block slidably mounted on the slide 16, and is held against a fixed block 43 on the slide by springs 44. When the handle 21 is fully pulled out, a catch 42 pivoted on the ejectorcarrying block engages a fixed plate 8, so that. when the handle 21 and rods 20 are pushed back carrying the slide 16 with them, the ejector 9 does not return but holds up the column off articles in the magazine until the end 17 of the slide 16 closes the article-delivering opening. Then a plate 45 on the block 43 depresses the catch 42 allowing the springs 44 to retract the ejector. The slide 16 is returned by stops on the rods 20 engaging the lugs 18 on the slipper 18. Coin action, with stationary coin formina abutment.-A coin x inserted through a slot 12 rests, with its lower edge projecting, in guides 13 against a fixed stop 15 and a slidable pawl 14 which is held against a stop 13 by a spring 34. A rocker arm 33 is pivoted to a block 31 sliding on a rod 30, the slider 31 being carried by a rod 32 having a bar 32 slidably mounted between stops 22, 23 on the rods 20. When the handle 21 is pulled, the stops 22 move the rod 32 which carries the rocker arm 33 with it. An inclined piece 33 on the front end of the rocker engages the coin which is thereby caused to turn on its pivot so that a projection 33 carried by it engages over a cam-piece 26a on the catch 26. Continued outward movement of the rocker depresses the catch against the action of a spring 28 and finally releases the ejector mechanism. A plate 31 on the slider 31 engages the end 36 of a lever 36 against a spring 37 to move its other end over the coin and so prevent the coin from being pushed upwards by the rocker arm 33. Coin-discharging mechanisrn..-NVben the inclined piece 33 moves past the coin, it engages. owing to the rocking of the arm 33 by gravity, the pawl 14 which it moves to allow the coin to drop through a shoot 38 to a money-box 39. If the coin jams between the guides 13, return of the mechanism to normal position is prevented by the rear edge of the piece 33 engaging the coin.
