Abstract

318,536. Manley, E. T. June 5, 1928. Spring surfaces.-An upholstery-carrying frame particularly adaptable to a convertible bedstead and armchair comprises a number, for example three, of transverse spring-supporting members 6, Fig. 4, attached at their ends to the sides 3 of the frame; wire links or chains 10, and spring elements 11 connect the springs 8 to one another and to the frame, as shown in Fig. 2. Preferably each end of the frame is connected to a hinged section 1, 2 comprising chains 14 and springs 15. In a modification, the chains 14 are arranged in hexagons, the angles of which are connected by springs to the frame. The parts 1, 2, 3 may be folded together, or may be arranged in a suitable framing to form a lounge chair.
