Light-sensitive cells. - A photo-electric cell has an electrode plate 2, preferably of copper, with a surface 2a of light - responsive electrically conductive crystal material, such as cuprous oxide, selenium sulphide or molybdenum sulphide, a co-operating reticular electrode plate 4, preferably of nickel, and a translucent electrolytically conductive crystal plate 3, for example sodium chloride, cobalt chloride, or cobalt bromide, between, and in surface contact with, the electrodes. In the modification shown, the crystal has piezo-electric properties, for example Rochelle salt, and vibrations produced by changes in the photo-electric current modify the resistance of a carbon contact 6a. 7a, and hence the current in a transformer 8 from a battery B3.
