Light-sensitive cells.-A light-sensitive cell has an electrode of cuprous oxide 3<a> in contact with an electrolyte 2 capable of releasing nascent oxygen independently of electrolysis, such as hydrogen peroxide. A co-operating electrode 4<c> is made of electropositive material, such. as magnesium, zinc, cadmium, or aluminium, or of electronegative material, such as selenium, or carbon. As shown, a copper electrode, 3, coated with the cuprous oxide, is in the form of a truncated cone containing the electrolyte, and the co-operating electrode extends axially in the cone. One end of the cone rests on an insulating base 8 and the open end is closed by a translucent glass seal 6. Specification 341,527, [Group XL], is referred to.
