Abstract

Copying-telegraphs.-In a copying-telegraph or television transmitter for use with a receiver not properly responsive to signal amplitudes, the energy fluctuations, produced or controlled by an exploring device, for example a light-sensitive cell 11, and varying in amplitude in accordance with the light and shade of the picture, are translated into signal impulses of time duration differing in accordance with the original amplitude. An electric condenser 30 is charged at uniform intervals through a commutator 14 to reduce a thermionic valve 12 to a non-conducting condition. The discharge of the condenser is controlled by the light-sensitive, cell so that the time during which the valve becomes conducting varies in accordance with the nature of the picture. The condenser is charged through a resistance 32 to prolong the charging-time. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2,15,792, 230,075, 237,263, 275,675, 278,051, and 313,857.
