Abstract

315,313. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. July 11, 1923, [Convention date]. Bulbs.-In the production of coloured varnish coatings on electric glow-lamps, varnishes obtained from the resinous polymerization products of vinyl esters are employed. The resin is coloured bv the addition of a suitable colouring- matter, either directly, or after it has been dissolved in an organic solvent, and the glow-lamp is coated bv immersion in the varnish. The varnish may be composed of 15 parts by weight of vinyl ester resin, and 100 parts of a solvent, such as alcohol, glycol, butanol, or butyl acetate, either alone or mixed together, colouring-matter or a pigmenting-agent being added according to the effect desired. The glow-lamp is dipped into the solution, allowed to drain, and dried.
