Protectors, securing.-Interchangeable wearing - pads for boots and shoes comprise two concentrically engaging plates a, e, one, a, for attachment to the heel, and the other carrying the wearing piece or pad, one plate being formed with a channel or groove c, circular on those edges towards the back and sides of the heel, the other plate being constructed with circular edges corresponding to the channel or groove. Stops f on one of the plates at right-angles to the breast edge maintain the plates a, e in position. A notch k is provided in the plate e to facilitate forcing the plates sufficiently apart as to disengage one of the stops f from the breast edge, when it is desired to renew or interchange the pads. A keyway, cut half in each plate, and a spring key, may, alternatively, be provided, to lock the plates a, e.
