Abstract

315,173. Windgassen, W. Nov. 13, 1938. Gums, carbohydrate and like.-Locust beans are treated with acids or alkalies or mechanically to remove the skin and embryos from the albumen which is then ground if desired and mixed with alkylized naphthalene sulphonic acid in liquid or solid form. The materials are dissolved in water and boiled by the direct or indirect application of steam. The sulphonic acid may be added to water with which the albumen from the. locust beans has been lixiviated.
