Abstract

314,596. Pratt, A. R. Dec. 17, 1928. Traps.-A strainer cover or closure for drains, waste pipes of sinks, &c. comprises a perforated or strainer disc 1, a tubular member 2 depending from the disc, and a pivoted trap disc or flap 3 normally closing the end of the tubular member but adapted to be moved by the weight of liquid passed through the strainer, approximately one half of the pivoted flap overlapping the corresponding half of the inclined lower edge of the tubular member 2 to form a seal and to limit the closing movement, and the other half of the flap 3 being weighted and reduced in size to pass into the tubular member 2 when the flap is opened and to form a seal against the interior wall of the tubular member when the flap is closed. The perforations in the disc 1 are located only over the outlet half of the pivoted flap 3.
