Abstract
314,234. Stead, F. July 13, 1928. Self-driving machines.-A self-driving motor of the buoyancy type comprises an endless belt 1 made up of linked shells 2. Each shell has a concave end and a convex end so that adjacent shells nest together during their travel. On one side the shells are arranged in a tank 14 containing water or mercury, and it is stated that buoyancy will create an unbalanced force which will cause rotation. Three of the pulley shafts are geared together by chains 6 and the fourth is adjustable to take up slack. A governor 15 and a controlling brake 16, 20 are provided.
