Abstract
313,097. Soc. GÚnÚrale d' Evaporation ProcÚdÚs Prache et Bouillon. June 6, 1928, [Convention date]. Density separators, discharging.-In a centrifugal machine for separating liquids from solids, means are pruvided for continuous mechanical cleaning of the discharge outlets for solids. The bowl 7 of the separator is carried by the vertical shaft 2, and has the form of a truncated cone with a number of pyramidal spaces 17 the apices of which are arranged on the maximum diameter of the bowl. Each apex is provided with a screwed plug 50 with an opening 56 communicating with a smaller opening 55 in a renewable plate 51. The openings 55, 56 form the discharge openings for the solids which collect in the spaces 17. The liquid is supplied through the tube 12 and passes through the openings 13 to the spaces between the liner plates 10. In each space 17 a rod 34 runs through a tube 35 and is connected by toothed gearing to the main shaft 2. The outer end of each rod 34 encloses a sliding rod 47 carrying at its end a block 48 which works over the surface of the plate 51. The block is centred by means of a pin 54 on the plate 51. The rotation of the blocks 48 by the rods 47, 34 keeps the discharge outlets clean, and the solids are discharged through the collectors 57 to the trough 58.
