Abstract
312,400. Reavell, J. A. Feb. 27, 1928. Spray evaporators.-In dessicating liquids by treating them in the form of spray with hot gases as described in Specification 279,544 the gases are subsequently purified from dust by passing them through the liquids. The latter are preferably concentrated by evaporation before being sprayed into the gases.. Air from a heater o is passed through a pipe g into a spray drying apparatus a into which liquid is sprayed from a vessel i, the dried product being ,removed at the base h. The air passes through a pipe nup to a tower d through which the liquid is circulated from a reservoir by a pump g. The latter also pumps the liquid as required to. an evaporator h from which it is .delivered to the vessel i. The plant may .be used for producing desiccated sodium acetate from a 25-30 per cent solution which is heated in the tower d to 45‹. C. and is concen. trated to 50 per cent strength in the evaporator h, the dried powder removed from the base b containing less than 5 per cent of moisture. The air is heated in the heater o to 350‹ C. and leaves the apparatus a at about 130‹ C.
